Protein production in Plant cell Suspension Systems. If certain PTMs are crucial for the function or activity of a target protein, then PPS can help by expressing proteins of interest in plant cell suspensions.
At the PEP in Umeå, as a part of PPS we use for example A. thaliana cell suspensions transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens, which delivers the gene of interest into the plant cells’ DNA.
Various promoters can control the transcription of a target gene and the protein product can be designed to contain different (cleavable) tags, depending on the project needs.
