Our areas of expertise

PPS offers a wide range of support and services for protein research. On this page, you can find information about the modules of the PPS infrastructure and our areas of expertise.

Production steps

PPS is specialized in producing and purifying recombinant protein reagents utilizing six different expression systems: bacteria, yeast, insect cells, mammalian cells, plant cells, and cell-free protein synthesis. Researchers receive tailored support throughout the protein production and purification process (outlined in Figure 1). The support can encompass the complete process, from counseling and project design to final quality control, or individual steps such as only expression or only protein purification.

PPS also offers two specialized Gateway modules to support users of large infrastructures with reagent preparation and provide expertise for subsequent experiments: the (Per)deuteration module, which prepares (per)deuterated samples for neutron scattering and NMR, and the Molecular Chaperones module, which features the Affinity Probe-Enabled Structural Analysis concept to facilitate structural analysis by X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM.
