New publication about deuteration by LP3

Published

The recently published paper in Algal Research is a collaboration between DEMAX and LP3 and contains a new protocol for the use of algal autolysate in the production of deuterium-labeled recombinant protein.

DEMAX is the Deuteration and Macromolecular Crystallisation team at ESS and the Lund Protein Production Platform, LP3, host one node of PPS and provides a gateway module for production of deuterated proteins, to use for example for neutron scattering experiments and NMR. More information can be found in the Gateway Modules section of this website.

The recently published paper in Algal Research, "Botryococcus braunii autolysate for the production of deuterium-labeled recombinant protein", provides a protocol for the use of algal autolysate in the production of deuterium-labeled recombinant protein featuring:

  • Continuous cultivation and autolysis of deuterated B. braunii
  • Autolysate used as glycerol substitute in recombinant protein production
  • Using autolysate gives high protein yield and >98 % deuterium incorporation.
