The European network Protein Production Purification Partnership for Europe (P4EU), founded nearly 15 years ago, hosted its annual event in Gothenburg, Sweden at the end of August. This year, the event was jointly organized by University of Gothenburg and Lund University.
More than a hundred participants from all over Europe attended the three-day program to share knowledge in the field of protein production and purification. Event sponsors were also present to showcase their products and solutions.
Among the members of the planning committee was Malin Bäckström, who, in addition to being the Unit Manager of the Mammalian Protein Expression unit—part of Core Facilities at Sahlgrenska Academy—is also the Director of Protein Production Sweden, a national research infrastructure for protein production.
“Bringing together expertise in the field for an event like P4EU means we get access to the latest developments, including new methods and technologies. Over three days, we’ve attended a wide range of seminars, participated in workshops, and had opportunities for group discussions and informal conversations. Research involving proteins is crucial in many areas, especially for developing new drugs, and that’s why we need to stay at the forefront to continuously offer researchers the best possible support,” says Malin Bäckström.
“I would also like to extend a special thanks to the Faculty of Science and Technology. The conference took place in their nearby located new building, Natrium, where seminars and lab-based workshops could be seamlessly combined.”
